“Tomorrow is often the busiest day of the week.”—Spanish Proverb
Much has been written about time and procrastination.
We often don’t realize how precious time is until faced with a crisis, usually related to our health or mortality.
Clearly, 2020 has been a cruel teacher.
Still, long before the pandemic, most people spent obscene amounts of time watching mindless reality shows and complaining about something..anything.
✔We dwell on our past mistakes.
✔We worry about future problems that likely will never come to pass.
✔We read books on time management and productivity.
We fool ourselves.
And here we are on the brink of 2021 keenly aware of our precious time.
Social media is packed with posts and stories assessing the past 12 months.
Pundits are predicting trends for the next 12 months.
🎉We stay up until midnight, count down the seconds (maybe with friends and loved ones on Zoom this year) and we watch festivities on TV.🎉
Pre-COVID…you'd probably hug and kiss your loved ones.
That one second seems so important, and then…
It's gone.
In that split second of the clock striking 12, the calendar page turns and…here we are.
But what has really changed?
Most of us go back to the same routines, habits and patterns that brought frustration.
We fail to take on new challenges and opportunities to learn, grow and change.
We’re stuck in a comfort zone of mediocrity.👈
Our fears and paralyzing beliefs have joined us in the New Year.
Damn.
You don’t need a clock or resolution to become a better person and discover your gifts and talents.
😂You simply need to decide that it’s time. You can decide in February, July or September. Don’t procrastinate on living your life with purpose and soul.
Here's one of the biggest A-HA moments of my life:
The most important second is not on Dec. 31st at midnight.
It’s whenever YOU DECIDE to change something for the better. The most important second is right now. 🕖
Happy New Year. Be well!
