Don’t Forget to Bring Your Audience Along

I can’t count the times I’ve stared at a crisp new landing page that’s about to go live, wondering: will this convert?

Will my message land? Will the words resonate so people opt-in, reply, or join…whatever…?

Your words—and mine—only dance off the page and into the hearts of prospects when we use THEIR exact lingo.

When we talk about

  • THEIR pain
  • THEIR aspirations
  • THEIR desires

This was glaringly obvious in one of the women entrepreneurs Facebook groups I’m in.

A member—let’s call her Lauren—wanted feedback on a landing page for her new offer. She specifically asked for comments on her 2-minute welcome video.

When I looked and read the few lines of text above the video, I had no clue what Lauren was offering.

Would the video bring clarity?

The page layout was visually appealing, but the words...

The Thing that Scares the Crap Out of Entrepreneurs

Celebrating my private coaching client Teri and her 3 new clients!

I have SO much respect for Teri because she was open to seeing things from a fresh perspective.

In our first conversation, Teri admitted she needed clients for her new consulting practice. Still she was worried about spending the money to work together.

You see, being a bold entrepreneur scared the crapola out of Teri. But instead of doing nothing and staying scared, she jumped in anyway.

And within a few weeks of getting clarity around her message and online presence, Teri landed 3 new clients for her consulting business!!

How did the shift happen?

Teri moved from limiting beliefs to bold when I said: Trust yourself. The Universe respects bold.

I KNOW this is true because I experience it as well. It can be scary to make sizable investments in ourselves and our businesses.

A few months ago, I was a wreck. I was deciding whether to invest $30k in a year-long...

You've Got to Avoid This Word When Introducing Yourself

Hubs and I spent the end of the summer at the Jersey shore.

It's fun for us to stay at the beach instead of in San Antonio, where the August heat is incredibly unforgiving.

So, we stroll into a cute local breakfast café in Point Pleasant, New Jersey.

It's our 3rd visit to the restaurant in a week.

We’re practically "regulars." The workers recognize us.

We like them…and the fact that there are no breakfast tacos. Nope.

In Jersey, we get pork roll, egg and cheese sandwiches, and bagels with a schmear.

As we're paying the check, the woman we've seen every day behind the counter strikes up a friendly conversation.

I tell her we love the place.

I curiously ask if she's the owner.

Her response floors us.

"Oh, no, I'm just the manager," she says with downcast eyes and a slight chuckle.

Hubs and I quickly glare at one another.

At the same time, we say:...

The Confidence to Receive

We’re so quick to compliment others.

Still, most of us struggle to receive praise and kind words.

How do you respond when someone commends you on a business report, new hairstyle or an impressive run on the ski slopes?

Do you smile and gracefully thank the other person?

Or do you deflect their comments and start overtalking?

Consider this scenario: A friend says, “I love your shirt; is it new?”

One typical response is: “Yes, I got it on clearance and saved $20. I couldn’t have afforded the full price. The car broke down last week...”

Another common reply: “No, I’ve had this since last year; the button’s missing from the sleeve. Gosh, I’ve gotta buy some new clothes!”

The best answer, however, is one that is uplifting, positive and shows your own deep confidence.

5 Common Rookie Mistakes to Avoid When Looking for More Clients

"Just show up, share some value and post consistently."

Entrepreneurs and coaches who want to be seen and heard must know how to show up.  Because showing up with valuable content brings credibility and clients.

Your content is your ticket to business growth.

But what does showing up as your true self (ok, the dreaded word "authentic") really mean???

How do you...

Comment on an active thread in a way that's not salesy or pushy?

Figure out what people want from you?

Avoid embarrassing yourself in front of everyone on the Internet??

You can't be seen as a credible go-to expert in your niche if you're always questioning your self-worth and value.

If you want more clients, you've got to share your message online with pride. The business will follow.

Your message = money

Publicity = profits

Showing up in groups, chats and podcasts means you have deep-rooted confidence and belief in yourself.

You...

7 Ways to Engage Today's Busy Audiences

I was FaceTiming with my nephew Eric, a college senior preparing to take on the world and make his mark.

Eric loves writing and has a strong sense of himself. He's bold, fun and funny.  But he scared me beyond words.

Eric told me about his papers and professors. I'm sure he saw me twitch as he described his writing style and expression within the confines of a college classroom.

(ENGAGE WITH TODAY'S BUSY AUDIENCES BY SCORING INTERVIEWS WITH PODCASTERS + REPORTERS. 1-HOUR VIDEO TRAINING JUST $99.00. CLICK HERE TO ACCESS IT NOW)

I told Eric point-blank: For the most part, everything you've had to write in college—style, formats and opinions.—will all go out the window.

The writing most of us have learned in school and have been using in business all these years is rarely effective these days.

Why?

Long, dry and stuffy writing is equivalent to a sleeping pill. People want personality and pizzazz.

Please don't ...
